Obtaining a Library Card
There is no charge for a Johnston County resident's first library card. The applicant must present a valid North Carolina Driver's License or North Carolina ID at the time of registration. If the address on the identification is not current, a piece of mail (preferably a utility bill) addressed to the applicant must be presented to show proof of Johnston County residency. There is no charge for a patron showing proof of employment in Johnston County. For those who do not live or work in Johnston County, the annual fee for a library card is $10. First time check out limit is two (2) items.
Children 6 and older may obtain library cards, but the identification and signature of the parent or guardian is required.
Books: $0.25 per day past due date
Audio Books: $0.25 per day past due date
DVDs: $1.00 per day past due date
Music CDs: $0.25 per day past due date
Lost Library Card: $2.00
Damaged Materials: Varies, based on amount and type of damage. Replacement fee is value of item plus additional $3.00 processing fee.
Lost Materials: Value of item plus additional $3.00 processing fee.
**Patrons with outstanding fees will not be permitted use of library materials, including computer access.**
