WE MADE IT !!!!!!!
It has taken almost two years and lots of donations from great people all over Selma and beyond, but the Selma Civic Center Team has reached its goal. On July 10th, representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture appeared before the Town Council to announce that they were awarding a Rural Business Enterprise Grant in the amount of $197,266 to the Town of Selma in order for the civic center project to move ahead with the installation of heating and air-conditioning, electrical, sprinkler/fire alarm, and data systems. This grant brings the total amount raised for the project over the $300,000
From Ann Williams - "We are very grateful to all the citizens who have purchased bricks and made personal and corporate donations. These very special monies allowed us to install a new roof and build our new large restroom addition along with restoring the historic windows, hiring an engineer, replacing the gable ends of the building, and beginning the restoration of the original floor. And now, this wonderful grant will help us with the interior systems that are necessary to get this building open to the public. Our team of 10 individuals is extremely excited and will be working hard over the next few months to move this project toward completion."
