Welcome to Selma!

The Crossroads of Tradition and Innovation

Please be advised:  The railroad crossing on HWY 301 (Pollock St.) between Dr. Martin Luther King Way and Anderson St. will be closed tomorrow, February 11, 2022, from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.  Norfolk Southern will be performing maintenance.  Please plan on taking alternative routes during that time.

Our hours of operation until further notice for the lobby area will be from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

There will be a limit to 3 customers at one time in the lobby – with social distancing.

You will only be able to enter from the rear of the building from the back parking lot doors and exit at the front of the building onto Raiford Street.

We ask that if you are not vaccinated, please wear a mask while you are in the building.

If you need assistance with anything other than customer service (paying bills, setting up new service, etc.) we recommend you make an appointment to ensure the person you wish to see is available.

Can we help you find something?



Our History

Selma was officially chartered as a Town on February 11, 1873, but the Town’s true birth took place on May 1, 1867, when there was a public sale of lots around a newly established station on the North Carolina Railroad.  Selma was born as a “Railroad Town,” and our rail heritage is still evident today, with our recently renovated 1924 Union Depot (Selma Union Depot) supporting Amtrak service.

Fireworks Reminder for Selma Residents

As we get ready for tonight’s All-American Festival, we want to remind everyone that it is illegal to set off any type of fireworks within Selma town limits — including bottle rockets, firecrackers, and other consumer-grade fireworks.

The Selma Police and Fire Departments will be actively enforcing this law and pursuing violators to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for all.

If you want to enjoy fireworks, come out to the All-American Festival tonight — and again on Friday, July 4th for another amazing show!

Traffic Alert

N. Webb Street, from Pecan Street to US-301, will be temporarily closed to thru traffic for most of the day today due to ongoing infrastructure construction. We will provide updates once the work is complete. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience!
